The Next Food Network Star

Brooke and I have started doing some kind of baking or cooking project on Saturdays. Our first adventure was making muffins - this time with a package mix - we're practicing for when our blueberry bushes produce their first crop in the Spring.

Her finished product - they were delicious!

Five Years Ago Today ........

Five years ago today it was cold and rainy - really rainy - eventually it turned to freezing rain. I had cheerios and danish for breakfast and leftover pizza for lunch. I spent the morning and early afternoon with Leeann and Heidi - we got our hair done and did each other's make-up, we spent most of the time acting genuinely silly covering cheesy hotel art with elegant wrapping paper so it wouldn't detract from the pictures later.

I remember that day so clearly because on January 8, 2005, I married Paul. It was one of the best days I've ever had. There are times when I have trouble remembering what I did a few days ago, but that day, I remember the smallest details. When I think about our wedding I can hear someone from the right hand side of the room whisper "she looks beautiful" when Dad and I entered. I remember thinking when the JP started talking that Paul was going to keel over and out loud asking him if he was OK. I remember greeting guests after the ceremony and Dale saying "You look radiant" and thinking that was exactly how I was feeling. I chuckle when I remember Joe Ro looking at me with a smile and wink and calling me Mrs. Romanski.
I remember having not a single doubt that this was "right". I remember feeling that this was the beginning of something wonderful - and it was.

This is the picture that hangs on the wall in my parents house, the one Brooke sees and says that I was princess and Daddy was my prince. There was certainly enough magic that day for a happily ever after.........There are very few chances in life for "do-overs" and if you are lucky enough to get one make the most of it - we are!

Eight Months

Eight months ago, Kristen arrived, hasn't that flown by? It has been an adventure and we are still trying to get a handle on being a family of 4. Some things take much longer like meals and getting loaded into the car to go somewhere. Other things like dishes & laundry are always waiting to be done. It seems like someone always needs a bath and more than half the time it is me! Our friends with older kids smile at us with a hint of "been there, done that" when we say that we're tired all the time. All that being said, we seriously couldn't be happier.

Kristen's last check-up was at about 7 months. She weighed in at a little over 15 pounds and was almost 28" tall. The Pediatrician said she looked great and he'd see us in 3 months. She was very brave when she got shot after shot at that appointment.

Kristen is a happy, happy girl! She cries when she is hungry or tired or sitting in some "cable". She sits up, rolls around the floor at will and uses it as her main mode of transportation. She eats 3 "meals" a day on top of bottles which she can hold herself. Kristen continues to be the object of her older sister's affections. The minute Brooke gets out of bed her sole mission is to find "Beautiful".

Happy 8 Months Beautiful! We love you more than you'll ever know.

Happy New Year 2010

Disney Princess Pennant on a stick........................$6
Light up Cinderella Dress from Walmart ...................$20
Photo of family with Cinderella in Frame .................$18
Lemonade, popcorn and cokes from concession stand.........$27
5 second row tickets.....................................$250
A family day filled with smiles and memories.........PRICELESS

Today we loaded up the girls, met up with Gigi and Poppa and spent 2 hours enjoying Disney on Ice: Princess Classics. Brooke did not know what was in store for her even with the light up Cinderella dress on top of the diaper bag. We posed for a picture with "Cinderella" before we found our seats. The seats were AMAZING, we were in the 2ND row, ice level.

Kristen enjoyed the first half of the performance and after intermission opted for a snooze.

Brooke just beamed the whole time and when it was over and we told her it was time to go she quickly exclaimed "No, I want to watch it again!"

By the way, that light up Cinderella dress was the best $20 I ever spent!
